For 2023 Pride, I created a quilt for my younger self. Each block designed and representing a part of my coming out journey. The quilt is what I would give to my younger self, letting him know that everything is going to be okay.
The quilt is about wasted time and childlike innocence. It’s about sleeping soundly, instead of crying myself to sleep. It’s about feeling comfortable in color and being enveloped in queer joy. With this project I’m attempting to nurture that part of me that was hidden away as a kid and now allowing it to be wrapped in affirmation, hope and love.
